Oct 2017 we moved home ..

Day 2 in the new house

The day of moving home began some months ago.
As boxes packed and oddments wrapped with solicitors progress slow.
Frantic worries and doubts and fears
have we just gone raving mad?
Change address and house and home makes us happy yet sad.

Twenty eight years we stayed in one place it was our house and home.
Somewhere to come back to whenever we did roam.
Brought up our daughter Lexi J from toddler to grown woman.
Went through 4 washers 3 fridges 5 vacuums and a dozen microwave ovens.

But now we sit a bit further north in a house of single story
1931 it was built in all its one floor glory.

No stairs to make our old bones sore
but 3 years of stuff to move in
So if you pass within a mile call on for tea and biscuits in'tin

.

We will have a garden party if you can bring a shovel or mower
The walls need paint and paper and there's a problem with the shower.
The colour scheme is vivid in a harlequin kind of hue,
so filled with mixed emulsions I hope that white will do.

They say that moving house is a major stressful thing.
We can agree with that as senses wain as more they do sting.
But sat here now all shattered from the days of shifting belongings
We start a new life in our home and no more moving longings.
