NC500 North Coast 500

The North Coast 500. July 2016.

And the hum of engines breaks the soft air warmed by the sun
North where the scent of gorse is sweet.
As iron horses tread with care on a day of riding fun 
These road are not normal tarmac streaks.

Twisted route o'er mountain peaks with sea to see on left.
The Scotland of folklore we seek and find it way out west.

Vista's that warm your soul and roads that twist and rise.
Then fall without warning these are the dreamlike rides.

We end the day in shattered heaps
in tents and states of awe.
Then fight off small flying beasts and mozzy biting hoards.

Solace in a glass or two , a meal, then to sleep,
tomorrow is another day and more stunning roads to reap.

The sun keeps offering heat that's rare up here, it's usually much colder
But we have the bikes, we have the gear , which makes our pace quite bolder.

And so after days and the miles we had, we part our ways once more.
The parting such sweet sorrow, not sad for another trip still calls.

Next year another call for all to go north and ride the Noo
as long as there's no rain at all 500 miles will do.
